Alberto, a Portuguese environmental engineer, decides to transform his life by relocating to a futuristic West African city that blends elements of Guinea-Bissau and Luanda. There, he takes on the role of an engineer tasked with building a road that connects the jungle to the desert. Confronted by the harsh environment, intense heat, and isolation, Alberto encounters Ema and Ben, two locals who, like him, are motivated by a desire to break free from their backgrounds. The connection they form becomes Alberto’s sole anchor for maintaining his sanity amidst the growing brutality and chaos that pervades the expatriate community, from the construction site to the NGO offices.
